I created LIFT by Les to innovate the future of health and wellness, not just provide a one-time, quick, solution. LIFT by Les provides personal, ongoing support for the community-at-large in making healthy decisions throughout their lives, from college students all the way up to retirees and beyond.
LIFT by Les is prepared to address the obesity and sedentary lifestyle epidemic that is stripping the United States of its productivity, quality of life, and wealth. Because nearly 70% of the working US population is overweight or obese and we’re not doing so well at ACTUALLY taking wellness as a whole seriously, this presents a MAJOR problem.
Making healthy choices throughout your whole life, even if you never use a traditional commercial gym ever, is important and cannot be stressed enough. I get a lump in my throat every time I see someone struggling with their weight or break down because they are incapable of a simple movement like going up and down the stairs, whether or not they have the intent to fix it. At the same time, it frustrates me that we make excuses not to better ourselves and fall into a deep, downward spiral into medications and illness, when we understand what the real problem is: our unhealthy choices that turned into habits, not staying disciplined and lacking the willpower and accountability to ourselves, that eventually turned into disease.
If you read my post “Start with Why” then you know my dad has been fighting cancer and recently broke his leg. He’s gained weight (he was already overweight) and is approaching 60, so he’s losing any muscle mass he has left. The steroids and the number of medications he is on, on top of his excess weight, worries me sick. It keeps me up at night. He is extremely stubborn, however, and won’t listen. He finally let me do his meal plan and workout plan. This is a HUGE step for him. Accountability is his biggest problem. He is a workaholic and doesn’t make the time to make sure he’s healthy.
My best friend from high school is struggling with gastrointestinal problems and PCOS because of her weight. She also has problems with migraines, depression, and back pain. She wants to have kids one day and she’s concerned that she won’t be able to conceive. I’ve known her for years, being a mom would be a dream come true. I love her and I want to see her have a beautiful healthy baby.
Another one of my friends called me and told me that they wanted to do something about their stress levels, constant pain, and the onset of a curved spine. She’s 24. She’s of a “healthy” weight, but her lack of exercise and good eating choices will eventually leave her crippled. I told her this and she hasn’t heeded my warning.
I’ve worked with people who are recovering from surgeries and those that are trying to be healthy for their kids. They have limited mobility due to injuries and they’ve lost all their hope. I’ve worked with middle-aged women more fit than I am because they want to be able to move around and enjoy their lives as they approach retirement, not stuck in a wheelchair and bound to their home.
These people and the desires they want to fulfill keep me up at night because the thought of them not realizing their potential and living their lives to the fullest sickens me. Everyone deserves to have a life that they can enjoy, from birth to death.
If you have someone in your life that you care about going through a similar situation, it should keep you up at night too.
From the time I was 7, I was always trying to help others less fortunate than myself. I usually dragged my cousin and brother along for the ride. We split up rocks, called them “gems” and sold them to my relatives so that we could help those in need. Business and inspiring change is in my blood. I always got the most satisfaction from helping someone else.
In college, Dr. Steve Welch reminded us to always “send the elevator back down” for someone else. Dr. Steve Welch has a really incredible story and inspires leadership in every one of his students, and never takes any credit for it. His leadership seminar helped me look deeply at what I wanted my life to look like and the impact I wanted to leave on this earth. From a very young age, I saw the wrongs in the world and wanted to right them. As an adult, I am finally ready to do something about it.
I’m here to provide a solution. A long-term, no bullshit, reliable solution to the problem. By making small changes each week, staying accountable to me, and finding something you actually enjoy doing that keeps you active, we can do that. I am here to help you change your lifestyle so that you can enjoy your life, enjoy the people in your life, and enjoy yourself.
I want to see you inexplicably happy and I want to see you look in the mirror and say “I did this”. I want you to be healthy because you want a family, a crazy successful career, to make an impact, or you want to live your life with joy.
It will take work and it will take grit, but I will be your cheerleader and coach to help you see it through.
LIFT by Les isn’t created for me. It’s for you.
Uplift. Transform. Sustain.
